{"id":148,"date":"2023-02-12T00:46:13","date_gmt":"2023-02-12T00:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shadowstarcodes.ncoleman.tech\/?p=148"},"modified":"2023-06-28T14:40:54","modified_gmt":"2023-06-28T14:40:54","slug":"poems-by-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shadowstarcodes.ncoleman.tech\/index.php\/2023\/02\/12\/poems-by-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Poems (By Me)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2>Little Things<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things, <br>Like the sun smiling down <br>From the glowing sky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things, <br>Like the cool morning dew <br>On bright green grass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things, <br>Like the dark, gloomy rain <br>Thundering down on a rotten day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things, <br>Like the twinkling stars <br>Breathing good dreams upon our heads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things, <br>Like shadowed leaves <br>Sprinkled across the yard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Haunted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Voice calling unheard, <br>Saying but a single word, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cars surround with blaring alarms, <br>People crying in each other&#8217;s arms, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All around all falls is tears, <br>Lasting for a thousand years, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men in suits search the bed stained red, <br>Investigating the body of the dead, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And sitting on top a flickering lamppost, <br>Sits the little lonely ghost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Natural<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cool, gentle, whispering breeze,<br>The sharp, rushing, ice-cold river,<br>The soft, leafy, home-making green leaves,<br>The blazing, warm, bright sun&#8217;s rays,<br>The patter and pitter of soft rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The growls and honks and screams of machinery,<br>The whirring and thudding of human construction,<br>The cries and calls of creatures leaving,<br>The wars and blood and expansion,<br>The rivalry, destruction, and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Lap Cat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I sit, you jump<br>Now in my lap<br>Purrs and rubs<br>Sweet little gutsmusher<br>Knead, paw<br>Knead, paw<br>Eventually fall asleep<br>And now I&#8217;m stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Candle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I am a string, wrapped in colorful wax.<br>I stand with the crowd, following<br>Exactly the same as the others.<br>We make packs and travel<br>Soon found and taken to ritual.<br>The birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am a topping, standing upon a cake.<br>I stand among the crowd again.<br>A lighter approaches. They open the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am a spark, glowing brightly with help.<br>I now see the world. I am taught to glow.<br>I still stand, glowing brighter by the day.<br>Some burn out, but I still burn as a flame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Dear Little Tommy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Little Tommy,<br>Where are you now?<br>Are you smiling down from the stars?<br>Are you running across soft clouds in heaven?<br>Or are you walking as a ghost with us now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Little Tommy,<br>How are you now?<br>Are you happy away from the pain?<br>Are you sad you had to leave us?<br>Or are you peaceful in the sky?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>My Cat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sweet as sugar,<br>Quiet as a mouse,<br>Purrs loud as thunder,<br>Soft as a cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, cuddly as can be,<br>But has teeth like daggers,<br>Piecing skin like it&#8217;s paper<br>With a hiss so threatening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ferocious as a lion,<br>Hungry as a pig,<br>Playful as a puppy,<br>It&#8217;s my cat and always will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>The Rainforest (Version 1)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Rainforests are a world undiscovered,<br>By the canopy layer they are covered.<br>Many plants and animals live there;<br>Would a tree salamander crawl in you hair?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you will find a great big snake,<br>And to get rid of it you will need a rake.<br>There you can find bromeliads and frogs in their tanks,<br>To get across the canopy, you will walk on planks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most beautiful roof in the world is here,<br>This is the place I always want to be near!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>The Rainforest (Version 2)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The rainforest,<br>A pretty place covered in dripping leaves,<br>Sounds filling the humid air.<br>Hanging, large, leafy canopies block out the sky,<br>Water constantly seeping down your back,<br>The rainforest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The creatures,<br>Shrieking, swooping, crying, howling, hissing,<br>Mosquitoes buzzing loudly in your ear,<br>Constantly smacking yourself against bites.<br>Monkeys screeching at every hour, snakes hissing at every turn,<br>Jaguars prowling at night, frogs slicked in colorful poison,<br>The creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shriek, hiss, climb, prowl, buzz, drip, swish.<br>Shriek, hiss, climb, prowl, buzz, drip, swish.<br>Shrinking, special, filled with creatures,<br>The rainforest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>The Taiga<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s the biggest biome of them all,<br>Below the Arctic is where it will fall,<br>&#8220;A boreal forest&#8221;, it&#8217;s sometimes called<br>The taiga is where the wood-mice have crawled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is filled with caribou and moose,<br>And you can probably see a goose.<br>The taiga is both cold and hot,<br>The taiga is the very best spot!*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>The Ocean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The sparkling, shining rippling blue,<br>Majestic, but dangerous too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As ocean waves as tall as houses<br>Can destroy with the force of thousands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And grabbing you with it&#8217;s mighty hand,<br>Drags you far, far from land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giant waves rush over your head,<br>Pulling you away from the surface again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And while the current drags you to and fro,<br>Know that you were alive not long ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Grapes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hangs upon a climbing vine,<br>Lavender balls with a gleaming shine,<br>Can be found upon a farm,<br>More growing on each greedy arm,<br>Don&#8217;t choke on these tiny shapes,<br>Worship your friends, the little grapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Which poem is your favorite?
